Submitted by Angelyn, about her Dove cookies!
Michael and I closed today on our new property in Tenn. that we have named "The White Dove Ranch". We hope to one day have a log cabin to go along with it. It is a dream come true for us and we celebrated when we got home with a cup of french press coffee and one of the dove cookies:) What a perfect way to finish off the afternoon. I can't wait to share the cookies with our daughter who is coming home from college to visit this weekend.
Submitted by Linda...... this is a very moving story
“That will be 10 cents, please!” I said, holding my hand open. It was the deal I made with my Grandpa when I was four years old if he didn’t go to church on Sunday. He’d smile digging deep into his pocket, placing a dime in my hand. “Grandpa you really need to go to church.“ I would scold. He’d nod, and say, “Next time.” Grandpa lived in the duplex where I lived with my family. I loved tasting food he cooked on his hot plate. For my eighth birthday he gave me a Bible and inside he wrote, “Always live by the Word of God, from Grandpa.” After moving away, I didn’t see him as often, but decades later those words continued to impact my life.
A few years ago, before getting up one morning, a Bible verse came to mind, “I set before you life and death…” A question interrupted, “Which one did I take?” Without thinking I answered, you chose death, Lord. Another question, “What’s left?” Life, I said. From deep within I heard, “Choose life.” My thoughts continued, “I set before you blessing and cursing...” The same questions concluded with “Choose blessing.” Amazing! I thought. Jesus bore death and cursing on the cross, and tells us to receive the results of His sacrifice: life and blessing. What a powerful choice. It appeared I passed a test, and I think it was from God; though unaware of what was about to happen.
Four days later, I found myself in a whirlwind of tests and diagnoses, resulting in: biopsies, lumpectomy, colonoscopy, surgery, colostomy, radiation, more surgery, over-radiation, additional surgery, chemotherapy, blood transfusions, great weight loss, and loss of my hair.
My husband posted two Bible verses on the walls in our home and numerous hospital rooms. “’For I will restore you to health and I will heal you of your wounds’ declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 30:17).
“And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”(I Peter 5:10).
As God commanded, we chose life in the word of God, saying and taking those verses like medicine day and night. Hearing and knowing the will of God, strengthened our faith. After two years of hospitalizations, and four years later, along with prayers of many, I am restored/healed just as God promised. Oh, and the command to Choose Blessing? Yes, God faithfully provided a beautiful boat we call Great MarryTime, giving new meaning to, “…beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.”
Through Grandpa’s godly advice, to live by the word of God, I am now alive because of God’s powerful word.
Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, give attention to my words…Do not let them depart from your sight…For they are life to all who find them and health to their whole body.”
Prayer: Thank You Lord for your awesome words of life, healing and blessing.

SASQUATCH COOKIE
Submitted by Mike - Milwaukee, WI
Each year, a group of my college friends and I take a trip we like to call “Mancation”, this means no significant others allowed. On this particular trip, we were in the Porcupine Mountain in Northern Wisconsin on a four-day backpacking trip. On our third night, we were all gathered around the fire playing cards and unwinding from the trek that day, when in the distance there was a faint sound of scratching and snarling.
At first I thought I was hearing things, probably just a little chipmunk named Alvin. But then the rumblings in the bushes got louder. And then the snarls became much more threatening. I tried to seem tough in lieu of the mysterious noises, by casually shuffling my cards. Then just as I was aligning my Royal Flush, CRACK!
The massive creature exploded out of the woods, hurling it’s massive body directly at me. The first thing that came to mind was to freeze, since that made me invisible, right? Wrong. Very wrong. I was tackled to the ground struggling for dear life against a Sasquatch. Yes, the monstrous creature also known as Bigfoot.
As it turns out the joke was on me (literally), and a few others who wouldn’t admit that they were petrified too! One of the guys on the trip thought it would be great to pack a full Sasquatch suit and scare our poor souls, despite the extra 5pounds in his pack. As indicated by my higher blood pressure and voice, the trick was a success and to commemorate the laughter that ensued, I sent a picture to the lovely ladies at Embossed Edible and they made a custom hand painted cookie. Thank you Beth and Jan!
Here's the cookie we made for Mike:

The Cream City Rug Hooking guild meets twice a month. It is a gathering of talented novice and veteran artists.
Oh the beautiful projects that you see being created. One of the gatherings was turned into a rug hooking tea party.
Servings of tea and also coffee accompanied tea sandwiches and sweet treats.
With 37 members showing up in their beautiful "tea party" hats. It was a festive time of hooking and snacking.
